Why Can't I Make Money Trading?

Plenty of traders trade for months or years and still end up flat or in the red — usually not because they lack winning trades, but because they don't hold onto the gains.

Profits get given back to the market. A good run often ends with one big losing trade, because success quietly lowers caution. Risk creeps up until a single trade erases the gains from several before it.

The strategy gets switched too often. After a couple of losses it feels like the system stopped working, so a new one gets tried instead. But most strategies go through losing stretches even when they work overall — constantly switching never lets any one system prove its real edge.

Winners get closed too early, losers too late. Fear of losing an open profit leads to closing winning trades ahead of plan, while losing trades get held longer than they should. Together this flips the win/loss ratio the wrong way.

There's no record of past trades. Without a journal, recurring mistakes stay invisible — every loss feels like an isolated event instead of part of a pattern that could be fixed.

Mental fatigue from constant uncertainty. The market never offers full certainty, and staying in a state of "I don't know what happens next" wears traders down — decisions start getting made to relieve that tension, not because the setup called for one.

Profitability in trading rarely comes down to finding the perfect strategy — it comes down to actually following the one that already works.
